Recruitment
Procedure followed by our company:
Seafarers come to know about our marine crewing company through the following sources:
- Local newspapers
- Local marine newspapers
- Local marine journals
- Radio
- Internet
- Other mariners
Seafarers come to our office to be registered in our data base.
Our qualified inspectors have a discussion with them about 30 minute.
All details and the status of the seafarer are determined in this discussion.
The seafarer tells about himself, his family background. He gives full information about his education. All his educational certificates are checked.
The seafarer brings with him the original certificates and the copies. Our inspectors compare the original and copies carefully.
After the comparison, the original certificates are given back to him at once. In case of doubt, our company has the necessary contacts to check out the legality of the documents. All the seafarers are checked, whether they are blacklisted. If any of documents are to expire, our company assists in renewing.
Seafarers are always checked, whether they have the required social insurance. If not, they are assisted in getting it.
Their health list is checked. If the health list is to expire, they are directed to the medical committee of Odessa state maritime academy, where they undergo full medical test. Our company has an agreement with the medical committee of the Odessa state maritime academy, for all our seafarers, to undergo their full medical test including alcohol and drug test in their laboratory.
The seafarers are asked to mention the names of the companies in which they were previously employed. In case of doubts, the companies are directly contacted by our inspectors and the matter are resolved. If a seafarer gives false evidence of his sea service, stringent steps are taken. One of them is to inform all the crewing companies in Odessa about the false evidence given by seafarer. Marine cadets having no seagoing experience are dealt with separately.
After the inspector is confirmed, that the seafarer is fit to be registered in our database, he is explained about the terms and conditions of our company. On positive confirmation from the seafarer about this, inspector instructs him to move to the next table where the secretary fills out his application form on the computer. The filled up application form is given to inspector for his consent. After consent from the inspector the seafarer is asked to sign the filled up application form where it is clearly mentioned that if any of the given details prove out to be false, the seafarer is ready to bear the consequences of it.
After this lengthy procedure, the seafarer moves to the English language department, where he is tested for the knowledge of his English language. According to his knowledge, the English language teacher gives him following remarks on his application form. Candidates with poor and satisfactory knowledge of English are recommended only to Ukrainian, Russian or Greek shipping companies where the full crew is Russian or Ukrainian. Other candidates are recommended to foreign ship-owners. The seafarers are suggested by our company to improve their knowledge of English. More details about this can be found by clicking English language department. According to the needs of the shipping companies, we even give special computer courses to our seafarers.
When our company receives the requirements of the shipping companies for seafarers, the required specialists are checked in our database. The conditions are agreed with seafarers and their details are sent to the shipping company. On approval from the shipping company, all the copies of the seafarers` documents are sent to the shipping company by e-mail. We arrange interview by phone with the fleet superintendent of the shipping company too. Contract is signed with seafarer and the terms and conditions explained to them (orally also).
In case the owners are using flag of convenience, we assist seafarers in getting the necessary license and c.d.c. books. Our agents in Odessa and Kiev assist seafarers in acquiring the required visas and air tickets (PTA) strictly adhering to the time limits. Full seafarers` details are maintained and stored at least for a period of three years both in computer database and in paper.
